Early Learning
Chitkara International School (CIS) presents an International Early Learning Experience programme designed for Indian children in pre-primary classes, which include Nursery, Junior Kindergarten and Senior Kindergarten. This programme is designed to educate the child in all aspects – physical, intellectual, emotional and social. Being strong academically, the programme builds a strong base for a child’s future education and provides the basis for effective learning for life. We integrate the subjects with modern technology to offer the child a varied and stimulating fun-filled learning environment. The students are encouraged to build on these stimuli, for the development of their creativity, imagination and problem solving skills. The curriculum is designed with the understanding that children need to play, manipulate, explore and experiment with real objects to add knowledge and learn new skills. It encourages a child’s natural and innate interest in learning and questioning.

The core components of CIS Curriculum are:
Literacy in English – The ability to read, write, understand and speak English is essential to succeed in other subjects of study. Senior Kindergarten children will effectively communicate in English and have a good understanding of the alphabets. They will also become proficient in their phonetic sounds, setting the basis for writing as well as reading.

Mathematics – Children become problem solvers. They learn about patterns in the environment, number concepts, comparisons, simple graphs and basic adding and subtracting. A practical approach to learning and understanding numbers will build a concrete basis for the theoretical concepts of mathematics.

Science & Technology – Children explore their curiosity about the natural world, differentiate between characteristics of common materials and identify cycles in natural techniques of observation. They learn about science and technology through hands on activities, experiments and guided research projects.

Hindi – The main Indian language of Hindi is given equal importance and emphasis in the curriculum. Children will be fluent in Hindi and familiar with the alphabets, as well as with other components of basic written Hindi.
